That's a silly statement.
Why should I need to be involved in athletic department workings? I read that statement all the time on here. It's a red herring, IMO.
It seems to me, and common sense says, the more you keep your supporters and fans engaged, the more you give them a reason to stay invested in the program, the better. You do that by giving them periodic updates about the state of the program. You do that by publishing your vision, not by hiding it inside the halls of power, in a locked safe.
