It seemed like early on, COVID got into a bunch of nursing homes which
really drove the extra high fatality rate. The actual fatality rate is fairly low, but not zero (and i haven't seen a good estimate of how many people have long-term health impairment). The scary part seems to be there's no rhyme or reason to when younger/healthier people die after weeks on a ventilator. If 300 million people get it, that's still a lot of deaths, even if it's a low overall rate.
