If there is a shortened season of any kind, especially a start in January....every freshman will redshirt, and perhaps, even many upper classmen will forego the season entirely and start back up in 21/22. If I was a freshmen I would definitely try and get as many classes out of the way and just punt the year.

If I was wrestling, I certainly would strongly consider taking a year off. I think a redshirt can wrestle unattached, but I don't think someone that already took their redshirt can wrestle unattached.
