Navy as a football-only member makes and I agree with your assessment

However, here is something worth considering WRT Navy's future. Now that the AAC kicked UConn out after UConn decided to rejoin the Big East, the AAC has 11 members for football. Given that Navy is already a football-only member, the AAC may decide to invite Army to join as a football-only member and take UConn's place. It would make things easier for the AAC for scheduling purposes. Also, the AAC would have exclusive rights to the Army-Navy Game and two-thirds of the rights to the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy Competition with the MWC retaining Air Force's rights to the game.

Assuming Navy has that offer on the table and Army is willing to join the AAC as a football-only member, then the ACC may have to really sweeten the pot if the Navy is going to take the ACC's counteroffer seriously. What counteroffer could the ACC offer that would get Navy to leave the AAC?
