Struggle is a tough word to use when describing a season for a guy who didn't wrestle past November. Certainly not his fault. Who knows what he would've done at the other opens or the Scuffle if he had stayed healthy. It wouldn't have shocked me if he had advanced to the third place match like Sam Latona did.

Sidenote: one of CB's two losses on the year was to Zovistoski from App State 6-4 in SVOT. Zovistoski would go on to qualify for NCAAs and actually place fourth at the Scuffle where he lost to Sheets from OK State, 3-1, in the third place match.

That Frayer quote about CB being the most talented kid he's put his hands on in 15+ years of coaching was written in April 2020. We don't know if this version of CB was pre-injury or post, where maybe the coaching staff chose to shut him down for the second semester and they were still able to roll around with him in the room.

Regardless, from what I've seen and heard, the kid is A+ work ethic and personality. Perfect fit for VT. I just hope and pray that he stays healthy! I don't see him getting on the podium this year (157 1-10 is stacked) but he could be a 2-3x AA with a shot at competing for a national title as a senior. Maybe he goes up to 165 by then. It'll be interesting to see who goes up or stays put at 157 in the future. Does David Carr, Kendall Coleman or Jacori Teemer stay put? Does Sasso move up?

CB's career accolades could depend on those moves but his effort and commitment will always be top notch.
