I always wanted to learn to play drums but never had...

...the opportunity until fairly recently, when I purchased a very cheap drum set and put it in my shed about 6 years ago. Although, I guess I'd say I "taught" myself to play long before I ever had access to actual drums, simply by listening to music and learning to play the rhythms and practicing using my hands/feet independently. By the time I bought the drums, it was just a matter of getting used to the spacing and developing a technique - I kind of already had the basics down by that point. I'm still an extremely novice player, but I can fake it enough to hide behind much more accomplished musicians in a "jam" session. It probably just looks really goofy - I play open-handed, playing the snare with my right hand and hi-hat with my left hand.
