I've never been convinced that that loss kept us out of the MNC that year.

LSU curb stomped and wrecked us in the Bayou earlier, I believe it was the first or second game if memory serves me right. ESPN and other talking heads never let us forget that either.

I remember the night the polls came out that would determine the two teams who would play for the MNC, even with our record that showed we should have been in it, ESPN kept hammering that we didn't deserve to be there because of that LSU loss and how bad they whipped us.

We were left out, LSU leap-frogged us for that spot and we've never been close again.
