I don't want us to abandon VA. That would be dumb. But the cries to win back the state to me are a recipe for mediocrity. I am basing this on the back end of the Beamer years. We still had control of the state IMO as for as the top 40 recruits go. I never thought we "owned" the top 5. But we remember those in the top 5 that we did get because they made a significant impact.

I guess I feel like when we had mostly VA players we thought we had more studs than we really did. We railed against our Stiney (for good reason), and many even thought Bud had lost a step or two. But the reality was...we just didn't realize that the guys we had lining up simply weren't better than the guys they were going against. You really can't out scheme that...when you're used to having the more talented players.
