No offense taken at all

Think about how many programs actually compete on a national stage consistently every year (making the Sweet 16 each year) and theres not many...maybe like 5? (Without looking, but ill do the research in a bit)

Theres not any amount of "his guys" that can get a program like VT to be one of the top 16-20 teams every year...

Buzz Williams did an unprecedented job at VT, but lets take a look at what he actually did...

5 years
3 NCAA Tournaments
2 NCAA tournament wins

2 wins...in 5 years...even if you disregard his first season where he revamped the roster, then Buzz follows exactly the cycle Im talking about...

3 middling years (1 NIT, 2 NCAA first round losses) and then one good year.

Thats Virginia Tech's program ceiling. What you CAN do, is increase your odds through roster management to make sure the year AFTER your good year isnt as bad.

You can also use roster management to increase your odds of going deeper in the tournament during tour good year. If VT were just a bit deeper last season, they would have won that Sweet 16 game, or even had an easier opponent if youre a higher seed.

Buzz's cycle was always going to be very very bad in 2019-2020 at VT. He got out before that happened...but he knew it was coming. Because VT isnt that type of program who can just recruit layer upon layer of the type of athletes needed to be consistently good at the national stage
