Draftees not paid slot value this year


In fact, they didn’t come close to being paid slot value. Players drafted in the 5th round were signing for a slot value of only $30,000. MLB screwed the players in this draft. Many college players you assumed would be drafted 4th or 5th round declined to be drafted because of the MLB’s adhesive advantage in bargaining — take it or stick it. Notice the number of high schoolers who were drafted.
