especially when the coach has a background involving the situation. He knows from his own experiences what it is like to grow up in this country as an African American man. He has every right to pass on his knowledge to his team. Coaching is about teaching and it is more than just teaching the game itself. Those are the coaches that are remembered by their players when they go on to graduate and move on with their life. It also shows the players that he trusts them by being able to share personal information like that and in return they will trust him more as well.
