I’d say you have to assume it’d hurt the program long-term to but the numbers. VT is a ways away from scoring every member of their ACC squad, so more members gives you more chances for development of swimmers.

VT has some recruiting disadvantages against other ACC schools, so it’s difficult to just naturally attract the top national talent. Not impossible, but I think we require a really good coaching staff in any sport to attract top flight talent
