It will be super beneficial to this kid to not have any kind of expectation

That he will ever play.

If he does, then great! Thats a net positive. If he doesnt, then great! I hope he got a lot out of the experience.

It is WAY more important for him to be a high energy person on the bench (Paul Debnam) than for him to have any kind of skill.

Give me a choice between 2 walkons, one who is a great player but quiet, and another who is a bad player but charismatic and I'll take the charismatic kid every single time. High-fiving, celebrating, having fun playing his role.

I do not care one bit if Gil Williamson ever scores a bucket for the Hokies, but he can be a phenomenal help to the team by being a positive on the bench.

Which brings me back to my first point. If he has the weight of expectations on him, that he should expect minutes at some point in his career, then it will eat into his psyche each time he is passed up for others on the bench.

This question gets asked a lot, and to no fault of your own, he just isnt like the rest of the players in that he doesnt need the expectation of playing time. But he is EXACTLY like everyone else on the team in that he has a role to play, and honestly his role is equally as important as Landers Nolley's was this past season.

Let him perform his role.
