Back in the early 90's there was a 30 or 60 minute science documentary


that was very similar. I was at a friend's place, and while flipping channels we stopped for a moment and got sucked in.

The research team, like this guy trying to thwart squirrel theft of bird feeders, added an obstacle. They then tracked (and filmed) how long it took for the squirrel to beat that obstacle, then added another, and another, and another and so on until it was similar in a lot of ways to what I just watched.

In addition to what this brillian you-tuber figured out, those researchers figured out that squirrels DID even learn from watching others do it. They had several occasions where a squirrel who had not beaten a particular obstacle did beat it right after seeing another squirrel beat it.
