Recommend keep using the one you have.

No guarantee that a replacement will be any better than the existing. Do flush the sediment out at least once a year.
I had to replace one that was still in warranty. The control board went bad on Xmas eve. I had 10 family members (including 3 month old twins) in the house. The mfg. would replace the board and send it to me after Xmas. Obviously that wasn't good enough. I went to Lowes/Home Depot, bought a new one and installed it. Received a replacement control board the next week. Now I have a spare water heater sitting in the garage.
Rest of the story - the new heater, 8 yrs old, has a touch pad that went bad after about 2 years. Now I can't change the set temperature, put it in vacation mode, etc.
Moral of the story - a new one may not be any better than the existing one. Unless you have a reason to change systems to a tankless like bluehokie recommends (potentially a pretty big project, esp. if you don't have gas service) keep what you have until it gives up the ghost.
