Yamato had 18.1" guns which could throw a heavier shell a few miles further

than the 23 mile (2100 lb weight) projectile range for Iowa Class...so Yamato would win the sheer firepower battle...BUT...I would bet the Iowa Class was a little faster and more agile since it was lighter and had American engines.
