Sounds similar...
We had been blessed to have a tall guy (even had 2 6ft8 twins graduate a year ago)for several years. When we had 1 tall guy we played a ton of matchup zone and tried to keep him as the rim protector.
When we moved to 2 of them (both were athletic) we played a ton of 1-2-2 half court trap and used our 3 guards running all over the place.
When they graduated we went back to having a 6ft3 post. We werent "short" because we had a lot of guys 6ft1 to 6ft3, but we changed again. We full court pressed nonstop, switching from 2 2 1 to a diamond look and then mixed in a little run and jump man. I only have 1 kid capable of creating on his own so we really worked to score off our defense.
With the twins we went 18-4 and blew it. Really should have been state champs. Lost in quarterfinals and blew an 11 point 4th q lead. Still hurts.
Last year we went 18-4 again, and promptly shot 26% from the floor (great shot selection too) and 48% from the line and got upset in sectionals. Still hurts.
Hopefully i do better in the postseason. Return all but 1 kid (please have a basketball season God).
