Maybe dominated too strong a description but from mid 90s to mid 2000s we
regularly signed 2 - 3 of the top players in state and 4 - 5 of top ten. There will always be the kids to sign with programs elsewhere but I still think we should make it a priority to retake a presence in the state at least as strong as those 10 years, develop a strong regional presence, then go after that national kid with something to show.
People talk about money and budgets as a disadvantage to national recruiting. Well, I don't see that situation getting any better so we have to focus from the inside out and recruit the best players possible from home, then region, then national. With solid coaching and development I would like to think we can reach that level of competitiveness I described.
