I flew first class to Europe, Hawaii, etc. solely on Delta pts from Amex

I pay $95/ year for Gold Amex card. I charge EVERYTHING to it. it racks up tons of miles. Completely worth the annual fee for my family. Pay it off in full every month. I guess it's how you use it and if you like to travel.

Within past year I made a mistake in payment of a few hundred dollars (I transposed two numbers), and there was a $60 interest charge or so. It was my fault completely. I called Amex (not realizing my mistake, because I always pay in full), and they said I didn't pay in full. I said, this is BS, cancel my card. They waived all charges immediately to keep me as a customer. I'm sitting on another 500,00+ miles.

If you charge everything and pay in full every month, a rewards card can be well worth the annual fee.
