Demas would be an amazing training partner
I could see Demas jumping up to 149, which would then make great sense for Mitch to be at Oklahoma. Demas wrestled 145 in high school and most projected him to be a 149 pounder.
Demas is incredible, better than many yet realize. He finished 4th as a redshirt freshman and has had some amazing matches against the best wrestlers in the country over the past several years, like pinning Kaid Brock. And he’s had amazing US Team success in both freestyle and Greco. I feel confident that he will win a National Championship or at least be a finalist. All that said, Mitch had one of his best matches ever IMO in his NCAA tournament loss to Demas. Now imagine Mitch training everyday with Dom. A training partner like that can bring a person to the next level, and we’ve all been waiting for Mitch to get to the next level. He has the talent to be an All American. Maybe training with Demas gets him there.
Some side notes on Demas. Super nice young man. We sat with him and his family at Super 32 in either 2014 or 2015. Just focused, calm and humble the whole time. He was absorbing every piece of advice from his coaches like a sponge. There was a buzz about him, with people expecting him to commit to Ohio State to have one year with his brother. But when Roselli took the Oklahoma job, it was not entirely surprising that he would pull some OSU prospects there. Roselli was known as the person who ran the Ohio State room.
