I walked on in '87 @134.


So we probably didn't tussle but definitely in the room at the same time. I was a Sophomore in Mech Eng. And pledging a fraternity. The cycle of circuit training at 6 am (and/or doing the "Airport" or "Dairy" runs as they were called; classes; 3 pm mat time; pledging duties; drinking; sleep for a few hours.rinse and repeat.did not work very well. I should have dropped the fraternity, but I dropped wrestling as I really didn't have a "future" in it and honestly did not have the discipline necessary.just loved the sport.

Ask Jon. But I remember Cheynet being sort of disconnected in the lead up to dual meets. There was some new assistance (can't recall his name) but he was gung ho. I remember one of the better guys in the room at mid-weight named Bo something?. I also remember someone else (Steele maybe?) that was against drug testing IIRC. And most importantly I recall the first "mat" day in Oct/Nov - I recognized the 126# Steve Culpepper out of Deep Creekhe was a rival of 119# from my high school. Anyway, first day of mat time and I get paired with him to tie up and start getting contact work underway.well he wasted no time and shot a double leg at the whistlehead butted me and gave me a freakin bloody nose. I was like 'I guess this is the welcoming committee for the new guy'!

At least that is how I remember things. Thought I'd share.
