I think it depends on what you mean by "best" coach. He did a great job of


building one team of core guys and winning with them... and then getting out of town before his recruiting misses completely caught up with him. On a personal note his motivational stuff struck me as phony and self serving. I think he was a pretty good coach in terms of plays and in-game stuff. I'm not sure he was nearly as good at roster management or recruiting or outreach or selling the program. Of course it's not like VT Basketball is littered with great coaches either.
