The NWCA AA’s are the only AA’s

The NCAA does not, nor has it ever given the title of AA to anyone in any sport.
The NCAA determines the top 8 at each weight class at Div 1-3, that’s it. They are named AA’s by the NWCA and as far as I’m aware, always have been.
Same with other sports. Football uses the AP as the “main” selector of the AA’s, although other publications do the same.
So yes, these men are AA’s just as they would have been if they had competed and finished top 8. This year, we just didn’t have a tournament to decide it, they used the seeds for the tournaments.
