There are wrestlers that are great, and then there are ones that are just plain fun to watch. This list focuses on wrestlers that I found fun to watch. There are a couple guys (DMF, Zach Epperly, ZZ, Dance) that are some of my favorite wrestlers, but didn't make the list. Also, I started watching at the beginning of the Dresser/Robie era, so it's limited to those guys.
10. (tie) Steve Ratley, Chad Strube- The year after Brands left was a very bad year. Even the guys that had relatively good years (Decker, Bonilla-Bowman) weren't very fun to watch. Enter Steve Ratley, the quintessential pinner who was either feast or famine with his "rat-trap." Dresser didn't start Strube because he wanted to, an injury to Chris Moon forced him to. Everything about his style was antithetical to what Dresser was trying to get his wrestlers to do, he was a catch rider that always seemed in danger of pinning himself. Still, his losing effort versus Nick Sulzer is one of my favorite matches of all time, right down to Dresser's frustrated looks. We are now used to guys riding well, but Strube's style was......original.
9) Zach Neibert- A pencil-thin catch wrestler that always seemed to roll out new moves (wait! was a leg-lace?).
8) Chris Penny- His first few years, he struggled to win, but Penny was always worth watching, as he could score on anyone (provided he finished the shot). Win or lose, you never wanted to be buying a hot dog when Penny was wrestling.
7) Jared Haught- Seriously, you had me with the horse noises.
6) Jarrod Garnet- ABS.always be shooting.
5) Ty Walz- King of the H-C, always pushes the pace.
4)Bryce Andonian- He's tough, aggressive, fearless and has a mean streak. Sometimes he runs out of gas, but he always gives maximum effort and has a bit of funk to him. He's a bad draw in any tourney.
3) Devin Carter- Master of all things neutral. He put on a clinic every time he took neutral.
2) Mekhi Lewis- Yes, he's only second on this list, but that also speaks to his greatness. Yes, he is a defensive wrestler, but he's an extremely exciting one.
1) Pete Yates- Exciting both at 149 and 165, he was Mr. Mean for the Hokies. Was tough in all positions, and don't get him angry. [Post edited by HokieLifer2 at 04/15/2020 09:48AM]
