So I teach 2nd grade in MoCo. Here's how it went for me....

Now, the first part of my experience is not normal because I took a cruise the weekend they canceled school.
The original order was for about 2 weeks. We were told the day they made the call to close that we needed to come up with plans/work for students for the 2 weeks that kept them on pace (with the expectation we would be coming back and pick right back up where we should be). So the other 2nd grade teachers at my school worked all weekend to come up with a plan and activities to send home for the next two weeks.
*Sidenote: In our county all 3rd-12th graders have Chromebooks so their work can be sent via Google Classroom (and plans were made to get mifi's or hotspots or upload assignments to those that didn't have internet access). k-2 have to make paper packets to mail home.
It quickly became clear (to our teachers at least) that we would be out much longer. So we went ahead and made a few more packets and planed out a few more weeks. We pretty much have our routine (Language Arts [spelling, reading, comprehension, skill work, writing....], science/social studies, and math [we were finishing up telling time, next was graphing, then probability]). So it was fairly easy to come up with worksheets/activities that could go home for the next few weeks.
Turns out that with us still having "spring break" this week and the end of the school year moved up, we are planned for the rest of the school year. We have packets ready to go home for the next 5 weeks.
We (all teachers) were told by the superintendent to not be too detailed. Once they decided to close for the year we want to just make sure we are covering the basics that would have been taught. That said, I have sent home some extra review for students that struggled in areas such as 2 digit addition or fractions as well as offered some more challenging activities for my students that are in the gifted program.
I have emailed or messaged (on Remind or SeeSaw or Padlet or FlipGrid) parents and students with some other online activities that they could use....but we have to be clear that this can not be something graded or required since our 2nd graders may not have internet/computer access.
