Just 300 years ago people would cheer witches being burned alive. Today, people blow themselves up to be rewarded with virgins in heaven. While those are extremes, the list of human behavior that is illogical and idealogical is endless.

Many people will always draw conclusions based on hope instead of reality. They'll take a slice of information that is convenient (eg: this virus only kills old people, Germany has a low COVID-19 death rate, God will protect me), to create a narrative that fits a more pleasurable conclusion.

This will never fully change as we're all built with the same DNA of people thousands of years ago.

Surprising - No.
Disappionting - Yes.
