Yeah, I don't think anyone was expecting a big team score in Minneapolis.

We got some big wins at the beginning of the season, but the general sense was this was a rebuilding year. We were ranked #3 at one point, but it never felt to me like we were anywhere near the 3rd best team. And the teams we got our big wins over had "down" seasons also (OSU finished 10-4, Missouri finished 12-7, Cornell finished 11-7). Also, that #3 ranking was a "dual meet" ranking -- how you do head-to-head against an opponent rather than at the big tournament. A team of solid guys with relatively few All-American contenders will have a much better dual meet ranking. We didn't have a good day in Pittsburgh, but UNC, Pitt, and UVA are also no slouches.

At the end of the year Intermat had us at #18 in their tournament rankings (#11 dual meet). Wrestlestat has us at #20 (#10 dual meet). The big thing we missed out with the tournament cancelled are individual accomplishments:

- #2 seed Hunter Bolen contending for the title at 184
- David McFadden fighting to be our first wrestler to AA all four years.
- Would our exciting freshman Bryce Andonian do damage after taking #2 to the wire?
- Any other surprise runs at All-American?
- Senior Cody Hughes competing in the big show in his first and only season in the lineup.
