Wear and tear on the body. The season is long enough now....
after spring ball you get a break from hitting. Conditioning moves to "off season" conditioning. Guys need the break in between. August through early-January is a physical grind. Adding a month in July to that? Too much I think.
If they do bring the guys in early - then it should be all conditioning work for that extra month and NO contact - NO contact.
