“It’s almost like free agency except you don’t know who’s contract is going to expire,” Brooks said on the transfer portal.

Brooks said when he gets off this call, he’ll be communicating with his assistants who are “combining the portal. If you look at the portal today, the names will shock you.”

Brooks said he’s had video conferences with recruits since he can’t go to their houses. He said it’s making him a little exhausted because he can do three times as many calls.

I asked Kenny about how he thinks his incoming class will gel with what’s already in place in Blacksburg.

“I think we might have the chance to be even better.”

He raved about his incoming recruits and his current players that haven’t had a chance to see the floor.

Brooks on Aisha Sheppard: “This was a trial year. She exceeded my expectations… I think she’s going to be freed up more [next year]. She went through two years sitting behind someone. It’s unique in today's age… I think it’s going to pay dividends next year.”
