Non-qualifiers finished their seasons. But the qualifiers - especially the top-10 types - had a chance to do something special taken away. Guys like Mark Hall looking to build his resume, a guy like David looking to become Tech's first 4-timer. And BTW, I'm one of those who think the cut down to 165 was too much for him. If he gets a second season, I see him back at 174.

You have to wonder how many would take advantage of it. I'm certain most of the highest ranked guys would, but what about people who qualified, but are ranked lower and are ready to graduate. How many people in Cody Hughes' position are going to come back for another year? He would have immediate competition for his starting spot from younger team members who were redshirted, or as mentioned above, David.
