Perhaps. I heard today that it is possible that

children are getting it and never becoming symptomatic -- which increases the size of the denominator and further lowers the actual fatality rate. I guess we don't know one way or the other.

It seems like the doomsdayers want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to tell us that this thing is everywhere and the cancellations and social distancing are all critical to save us (that's fine)...but also tell us that it is a deadly virus that will ravage our population.

We've had 36 deaths -- most of which were in a nursing home. That doesn't seem to square with the supposed lethality of the virus.

I'm in the camp that believes it is highly contagious and that it will, inevitably, spread widely. Flattening the curve is a sound strategy to help health care providers manage the influx of people in need of care.

But, for the most part, the danger is fairly low for the vast majority of people in our country. Children and healthy adults are largely not encountering any real difficulty.

There is potential for harm to a segment of our population -- but that potential harm is being overblown. People just need to calm the eff down.
