What if that professor brings in a $12M grant to do world-changing work?
What if the professor is an accomplished, paradigm-shifting researcher, NYT Best Selling author, and personally attracts dozens of absolute top-notch undergraduate and graduate students to the University/Department?
That's where I have an issue with these blanket comments about salaries. Shouldn't salary be evaluated against the VALUE CREATED BY THE INDIVIDUAL?
There are professors who aren't worth $40K. There are professors who are absolutely worth $700K. I'm in favor of a merit-based system. JMO.
