I am as capitalist as they come but....

I am 100% for caps on all things for college athletics spending. Its not free enterprise or a pro sport. For the most part these are state supported institutions and tax money is going to support them. The mission is supposed to be college education. Its already out of control and becoming a bad investment. 20, 30, 40K a year to get an education vs the payoff in a job market. Its off balance.
I realize college sports is a different bucket of money from the tuition/general expense side but then again it never is in the real world. Take all that TV revenue and apply it to tuition costs. Make universities budget conscious on all things from academic facility spending to sports. Right now colleges are bottomless pits with no sense of budget. The more they take in, the more the budget rises. Just like any out of control government type endeavor. College football does not benefit from coaches making 7 mil a year and assistants making 7 figures. Its the same sport if coaches made 500K. Maybe a better sport in fact. Players do not need waterfalls in their locker room...when an average student is in debt forever to get a diploma or their parents wipe out their retirement to foot the bill. The juxtaposition has gone too far and its time to reset. We have pro sports for capitalism and free market dynamics.
