Brooks is a good coach in other aspects but when the game is on the line the whole staff seems to fail under the pressure. We always panic in those situations and I think that is because we are not trained well for the situation. We need an assistant that can take charge in these situations if Brooks is not comfortable with it. Even though I think the head coach is getting paid for situations like that not the assistants. I hate to keep going back to this but look at Jeff Walz from Maryland who is the coach at Louisville now. He drew up the winning play for the National Championship game in 2006 when they won it. Your staff has a lot to do with success in pressure situations as well. Walz pretty much won that National Championship for Frese along with the players that executed it. We don't seem to have an assistant that can take charge if needed. Most successful assistants end up being head coaches somewhere, but it seems like we definitely need another mind on the bench for close games then what we currently have. I know they want to keep it young, but having an older mind that has been around the game for a while might be beneficial, but I don't see anything changing. Beth was the same way, she did not want to get rid of her assistants. But Beth is a whole different story. Sometimes your loyalty to staff can end up backfiring on you. If nobody is coming at your assistant coaches for head coaching jobs somewhere, then you might have a problem, just saying.
