If you don't have time to listen, here's some of the highlights - I'm sure I missed some things, but hopefully nothing major. Hats off to Evan for doing a GREAT job!

The first 15 games have gone by in the blink of an eye. We’ve been up and down. When we play up to our potential, we can play against anybody in the country. And we can struggle against anybody. It’s almost like the stock market – it goes up and then it goes down. It goes up and then it goes down. You just hope you keep going up and I think we are. I saw a lot of positives this weekend.

St Pete: The tournament was so well ran – the level of competition was so high It was a level of competition that we didn’t face last year, although we had a good series with Georgia. It’s a different atmosphere. You see good pitching every game. It magnifies how well you have to play to be at an upper level team. To go 3-2, it was a successful trip.

OK State: They punched us in the nose right out of the gate. And then Mac hit the homerun and we got the lead and it bounced back and forth and it got out of hand late. They’re a good team, obviously. To lose that game – it was a big game for all the kids for a multiple of reasons, and then for them to come back and beat a pretty good SEC team, South Carolina and to take care of business was a real positive.

South Carolina game – Nothing phases Keely. She wants the ball. She’s never too high or too low. She’s exactly what you want in a pitcher. South Carolina started a pretty good pitcher against us and we put the bat on the ball.

Missouri: It was a hard loss. I think it lit a fire under the team in general. Keely was struggling – she had thrown a lot of pitches. Kaylee comes back against Minnesota and throws the crap out of it. It’s okay to feel bad against Missouri, but it’s how you react to it. The next game was a total different experience.

Minnesota: Fiser is the best pitchers we’ve seen all year. She got 11Ks against us. We just battled. Liv and Maddi had homeruns and Kaylee was just a different player on the mound. She was just mean and strutting around. We played good defense, especially on the infield. I was really proud of everybody. Kaylee just threw well – she just needs to build on it. Keely came in and struck out the last hitter.

Darby Trull is having a good year. She just puts the bat on the ball and gets on base. She’s having another year just like she did last year.

Northwestern: I’m just glad I didn’t get thrown out of that game. You just want to win. The will of the kids to win was really high. We got to the tiebreaker and Al lays down a good bunt and I was debating on whether to squeeze and Mac said “let me swing just one time.” I said “okay” and she gets the sac fly to get the run in. She came up earlier with a runner on third and didn’t get it done, but she learned from it and got it done.

Overall experience just to be there: It’s huge. To make noise there is even bigger. I told the kids “we’re back on the map now. We should have never left. People were sleeping on us a little bit.” Those games are going to play big dividends later in the year. After Northwestern, I felt like I got run over by a semi-truck because every pitch is important. Every play is important.

Did that tournament replicate the NCAA tournament? Yes it did. It’s one of the reasons some of the returners weren’t quite as big-eyed as some of the newbie’s. They had felt that before. Tournaments lik3e that are very important to play in. There’s a couple like that. You just can’t replicate that. Every game was packed.

We might never see 80 degrees in conference all year. That’s just the ACC. We may play in 32 degrees instead. It’s a mixed blessing to play in weather like that. We might not play in that temperature all year. I hope we get to go back there, but I’m glad we got to play in cool weather this past weekend.

This past weekend: Friday, we didn’t play very well. Saturday, we played a lot better. Sunday, was okay – we took care of business. We only got 4 hits, so I was disappointed in that, but they had a good pitcher.

Darmouth: Molly Jacobson. Molly throws strikes. Molly throws strikes. She pitches to contact.
Army: Grayson Cruce has good at bats. She has good at bats. She plays multiple positions. She had a good weekend.

Bradley: Multihit game for Matti Banks. She’s putting together a pretty good year – hitting right at .400. This past weekend she made some plays in the field.

NC A&T: Kaylee no hitter. Only one walk. When she throws strikes, it’s hard for people to hit her. It was good to see it. No hitters are hard to get.

College of Charleston: Olivia Lattin went yard. I think that game was really important. She’s had some good at bats, but haven’t fallen in. Keely made some pitches that she hadn’t made so far this year. It was good to see.

Midweek game are a good change up from practice. Opportunity to get some kids playing time.
I know the coaches in Jacksonville from my time in the ASUN. They’re good teams – scrappy. We always struggle with North Florida and Jacksonville. You’ve got to show up and play. Anybody can beat anybody.

The Radford game might be moved to Tuesday because of weather.
