Just my opinion - no inside information at all.

As someone noted, the softball pitching motion is completely different from baseball - much less stress on the shoulder than an overhand motion. Still, she has thrown a LOT in just two days.

Where the luxury of a strong #2 pitchers stands out is playing the same team multiple times in a short time frame (i.e., an ACC series). Good teams will often "figure out" a pitcher the second, third, or fourth time through the lineup so having some variety in the circle is a plus.

It's not quite a big deal when you're only playing each team once.
