Football Championship may not be a determining factor

when defining whether a conference is a power conference or not. Money and a conference's relationship with New Year's Day Six bowl games could be the determining factor. Right now, the Big Ten and SEC make more money than any of the other power conferences, so they won't be the first ones to be asked to justify their P5 status. Given that P5 status is only for football, it is a moot issue on how a conference performs in basketball.
