and hopefully continue an upward trend. At the same time, I do wonder if the companies are concern about overpaying these schools. Particularly schools where the company has no alumni connection to potentially influence the negotiation process. So even though VT may be an upward trend, the companies could still "low ball" VT because it isn't an established national brand and the company, whichever one it may be, has no solid connection to the school.
Basically, if VT isn't regularly competing for ACC titles and Playoff/NYD6 spots in football making regular appearances in the NCAA Tournament for basketball, then VT may not even see a bump in pay on the next deal. The most interesting scenario is probably the one where all the companies offer less money than what VT is making now and seeing how Babcock reacts to the situation. If VT ends up with ODU-like or even JMU-like money, then it could signal that the companies are becoming more selective on who gets the money or how they define a "national brand."
