In part, yes. But most teams don't do it because
the probability for an offensive rebound is not great and the impact of lightly defended transition baskets is so high.
In the last 15 years, we have gone from 90% of teams sending 4 to the offensive glass to 90% of teams dropping back for transition defense.
Edit: The caveat is in times of desperation. You saw it last night, when you are down 3 with :30 left, you send everyone you can. You also see this with putting guys on the FT line to rebound. Young has been inconsistent with this, I saw two instances with Bede the last two games where he was shooting FT's in side 1:00 and nobody was their to o-reb. I thought both of those were mistakes in coaching. But when Horne was the line with :14 left to tie the game, he had the lane full. Not sure what his metrics of desperation are, but they are more conservative than mine. [Post edited by st_andrew at 01/23/2020 09:36AM]
