The problem will be that ESPN made this offer before Disney started their 3 year effort to renegotiate distribution agreements with all of the cable and satellite companies. Disney is now mostly through the renegotiation period.

Comcast is yet to go, and that's a big one. But Charter Spectrum and DirectTV are now completed. So the PAC12 missed the boat on those already.

Part of what ESPN included in its offer was a longer term agreement for all of the PAC12 rights in order to take over the PAC12 Networks. That's what Larry Scott rejected. He sees a pot of gold instead with one of the FAANG companies in the mid 2020s. I'm not sure that exists, but he said he sees it.
