Positives from Cuse round 2:

In all honesty, the Syracuse team we saw yesterday was more representative of their true talent than the one that collapsed against us in the dome. I don't think VT played that much worse yesterday than in the first meeting, Cuse just played better. All else being equal, in basketball if the taller team plays close to its potential, it will beat a shorter team most of the time. Unless the shorter team shoots lights out, which we didn't do yesterday. One of their guys had an out-of-his-mind shooting day, and our best scorer had a tough shooting day. And despite that, we still barely lost.

Other good things I saw:

- The team has learned a lot from the Dayton game. We have now seen several instances where our guys have gotten down by double digits but fought back. That is impressive for such a young group of players.

- Despite the breakdown on the last play, the team looks composed at the end of games and in tight situations. Again, very impressive when we rely on so many freshmen. And an indication of solid coaching.

- Great to see Alleyne break out of his slump. Everyone bashing Cattoor now, same thing will happen for him, it could be next game for all we know.

- Wilkins looked good in the middle of that zone and played with confidence. Is it just me, or does he look more in shape as compared to the beginning of the year?

- Even though Cuse won, we still got to see an epic Boeheim meltdown. I would love to see us play them again in the ACCT and have Cone hit a 3 right in front of Jimmy B at the start of the game.
