"That was a failure down in office in Greensboro"
Don't blame your misfortune on others. Take responsbility for your own welfare. Is that you Whit? Hopefully you're a young guy and can learn this lesson, evidently someone taught you incorrectly. Mebbe u work for govs where this blame somebody quick mentality works.

The failure to me is more about not building a coalition of schools who thought football mattered. VT, UMD, BC, FSU, Miami should have been joined at the hip. When Maryland went out they should have forced concessions on the ACC Network and its goals etc.

And still today we have a conference that is struggling to be relevant. Why? Because instead of doing the hard work of coalition building we got everyone to sign onto a "I'll never leave you clause". THIS IS A TERMINAL DISEASE AMONG COLLEGE LEADERSHIP. ACC LEADERSHIP. VT LEADERSHIP. Read the B10 stuff. They realized they have the same disease but they hired someone to do this for them. Honestly the dude didn't seem that good, but they seemed to get some good advice from Allen and Allen? - the median investment bankers? Either way. You don't let your retarded half brother from carolina do it for you, and not spell out where he is allowed to steal you blind and where he is not. Then when called out about the shenanigans you don't admit it and discuss the ways you are trying to address it. Can we even build a "not Carolina" coalition at this point with the full on retard never leave fees?

IMHO if I had big money I would never give to VT football / athletics. They haven't earned the right to wipe their buts in the morning. Every year these lazy arses should have to publicly recite the gap between the ACCN and the B10, SEC networks and discuss publicly what they are trying to do. It is ok if no reporters are there, do it at an alumni thing. Fine. Again way out of the scope of a MB discussion and I don't feel like digging up the data, but we probably had to do something else entirely given the strengths and weaknesses of the ACC. Full on internet with traditional cable distribution and 100 pct ownership would be my intuition.

Even now how is this crappy network being used. I saw uncle fester discussing how tony bennet built something better than dabo. please please let this man find something he is better suited to do. Work to get KPIs humming. Win the VA/DC/MD spots. Host some wrestling tourneys football tourneys stuff like that that can build the strength of the ACC footprint.. Work the FLA tv markets. No idea how to get Boston, but try it. Just because you got dealt a slightly shitty position you don't just lie down. I want to see some VT soccer, some VT wrestling.

THIS NETWORK IS TOTALLY UNDERUTILIZED.AND NOT BEING USED TO TRY AND COMPENSATE AND CLOSE THE GAPS.

Getting negotiations open is not enough. You have to court these companies. UA for instance is capital constrained and are looking for PARTNERS not to become a bidder. Are they willing to bid competitive money? Yes. But you have to help them understand that VT should be at the top of their desirable list in order for them to want to bid with you. Last go round we weren't even in the running despite having strong hooks there. The schools ahead of us had leaders who honestly were working both sides of the fence but convinced UA leadership that these schools needed to be the ones where they placed a long term bet with. IMHO VT has more attractive demos, etc etc. But we didn't want to do the hard work to bring in these other suitors. You gonna send out a RFP and give them a few months? That dog don't hunt. Have some paitience, be willing to go without a contract, slot VT into getting signed when there aren't so many more attractive deals to get signed. This is just basic block and tackling. Use your "ins" at the smaller vendors. If you don't know how to do it, get a decent banker / lawyer to do it for yu and incent him or her.
