I know too many VT alums who laugh at upping their Hokie club donations
Their attitude is: “show me something first”, “why is it on the fans, the school has plenty of $”, or “I don’t care if PSU has 80 percent of its alum that give back to their school - look what it gets them, not much”
There’s a clear disconnect between what is needed and how it is conveyed to the fans and donors. Their is a clear lack of a plan/focus by the Hokie Club and VT where it could be said “if we can raise x, it means we can get Y, which could result in Z”
I was shocked to hear these guys thumb their nose at the idea of donating more (or at all - many of them do not). They agree facilities are behind (Jamerson, staff numbers, etc) but do not see a connection to them. I guess they think a horrible Nike deal and an amateur late to the party ACCN will pay for all of it.
