VT rushed shots. They got open looks and were spooked into


thinking they had to take their shots quickly. One of the reasons PJ missed so many 3s is that he rushed. Whether that was the actual defense or the reputation of the defense (thinking they HAD to get their shots up fast), I'm not sure. I'm not saying VT gave the game away or anything, but they didn't have a bad shooting night. They had an abysmal shooting night. Like a bad shooting night, + playing UVA's defense = abysmal. I doubt you see 4-25 from 3 again from this team

For reference, UVA is gving up 42% 2pt FG and 26.5% 3pt FG on the year. That's against much weaker competition, but are still good averages. You would expect, on average, VT would shoot closer to 30% from 3pt FG and 45% from 2pt (below season average of 37% and 51%). That would have put VT about 15pts closer in this game. Still a loss, but coupled with VT's woeful shooting performance, it was a 26pt game.
