I think it might be a major shift being discussed in 22/23

A break up with a smaller group of P5 who can afford/ desire to be exclusive about who makes the megabucks. SEC (minus Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Missouri), Texas, Oklahoma, USC,Oregon, Washington, Florida State, Clemson, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan StateNebraska, Maybe 10 others - total around 32 scheduling as a single conference.
The ACC, including Notre Dame, becomes the cornerstone of the rest of what is the Power 5 for a competitive more “ amateur “ college football paradigm.
This is not a concrete model but I think a strong argument can be made for a major rearrangement concurrent with the 2025 contract expiration.
