You can save a few minutes off that if you hit hwy 16 to I-40. You could/


would take Brookshire Blvd out of the city and this turns into Hwy 16. Alternatively, if you were going to hit I85 south you could get onto 485 on the inner loop and it's about 4-5 miles up to Hwy 16. You would turn left at bottom of exit to go 16 North. This doesn't take you as far west. Once you get past the first light there is not a ton of traffic. It is 4 lane for probably about half the drive to I40 but it does turn into 2 lane just north of the lake but still usually runs around 55mph. Once you approach Newton stay right and turn right at Dale Earnhardt Chevy (this is still hwy 16) and it will take you straight to I40. Google maps it about 10-15 minutes shorter.
