The Washington state situation was as much Mike Leach's responsibility

as anyone. The fact that he took the side of a DB coach (his longtime friend) over the side of his defensive coordinator (Claeys) was yet another failure. Why put someone in a DC position if you're gonna let your DB coach dispute anything the DC does? There needs to be leadership at the top, and at the DC position, and clearly Mike Leach never allowed Claeys to assume complete leadership of the defense.
