^^This^^ I've often wondered about the same, but never knew the stats.
I'd also love to know how the total CO2 production from human aspiration compares to that of industry and automobiles. It's easy to plot a graph of industrial growth vs. global temperature and draw the conclusion that greenhouse gases must be the causal factor. However, I've always believed there are too many variables (including some we may not even be aware of) to draw any distinct conclusions about the cause of global warming. It's not like the sun's output is constant.
It seems like developing technology to deal with/deflect solar rays would be much more efficient and effective. Particularly since the current proposals for dealing with the problem only prescribe mandates without offering any proposals on how to replace the energy diverted from fossil fuel means of production. Even if you could replace that energy, the cost would be prohibitive and would collapse the world economy, likely developing the most significant blow to those already living in impoverished countries.
