I think there's a culture problem there. I think they need a change in leadership. They need to change a lot of the way they recruit (change that will be made by a change in leadership). I think they bit off more than they could initially chew with the move into FBS and while they did OK initially, eventually the additional expenses were not being made up by additional revenue.

In the long term, ODU could be OK (though they should have stayed in the FCS level where they would likely compete with JMU for top CAA program). But they need to get back to what got them good in the first place. One of Wilder's biggest mistakes was getting away from those things that made them successful. Treating his assistant coaches as a revolving door didn't help (one particular move really hurt their credibility in the 757).
