FWIW DI football has 2 non-scholarship conferences
but both conference compete in the FCS subdivision; Ivy League and Pioneer Football League (PFL). The Pioneer Football League is a football only conference like the Missouri Valley Conference (football conference HQ has a different mailing address than the basketball conference, but both HQs are located in St. Louis). Any ways here are the current members of the PFL: Butler, Davidson, Dayton, Drake, Jacksonville, Marist, Morehead State, San Diego, Stetson, Valparaiso, and Presbyterian (joining in 2021).
Based on the information above, do you think Father Jenkins would want Notre Dame to remain a DI school and either create a PFL-like conference in the FBS subdivision, switch to the FCS subdivision and join the PFL or become an Independent, or drop from DI to DII or DIII in all sports? The reason I included DII is because I think there are a few DII teams (maybe even a conference) that don't offer athletic scholarships. Also, I am wondering if Father Jenkins is even considering the GOR which doesn't expire until 2037. If ND left the ACC before the GOR expires because it doesn't want to treat the players as employees, then ND would lose its TV rights for all sports (minus football and ice hockey) until the GOR expires.
